Exotic Fruits and Vietnamese Folk Music in the Mekong Delta

During our journey through the Mekong Delta, a traditional vietnamese delta folk music performance was included in our tour. We had opted for a private tour to be able to be flexible with kids.

The experience began with an invitation to savor an array of exotic fruits native to the delta, offering us a taste of the local bounty. Coming from Mauritius, most of these were familiar fruits and they also ate it with salt chilli same as we do in Mauritius. They had ripe jackfruit too on the platter as a fruit. In Mauritius, it’s mostly eaten green cooked as savory, but few people enjoy the ripe one. I don’t.

The music itself was a new and exciting experience for the children, introducing them to unique sounds and styles of songs they hadn’t encountered before. Krishav, in particular, was captivated, falling in love with the melodies and asking to listen to them repeatedly. It was heartwarming to see him so enthralled by the music, embracing the cultural richness of the Mekong Delta with open ears and an open heart.
