Cyclone Belal
This week, Mauritius had its first cyclone of the year. The cyclone was called Belal. The cyclone has caused a lot of damage to Mauritius. I have seen pictures of cars floating and big trees falling down. Our house in Moka did not get spared – a few trees fell down. Luckily, our car didn’t get damaged.
Online Schooling and Zoom
Because of the cyclone, school turned into online learning on Zoom. I have already had eight zooms in total. Some have been PE Some have been homeroom. I was glad to see some of my friends and familiar faces on the zoom. My new teacher is Miss Daphne. Zooms make me sick so I would prefer to be at school. That’s why I don’t really like the zoom meetings a lot.
Video Editing
This week I spent time with my mom learning how to use the Youcut app on her phone. Youcut is a video editing software. We selected a few videos and pictures to edit. We also added some music to go with the edited video. Then, we posted it on YouTube and watched it. I am proud of my video. I think it looks cool.
Date and Dessert with my father
In this past week, on one of the nights, after my dad came back from work, he took me on a walk on the beach at night time we walked around the beach for a while and then thought we should go and walk around the city so we started to walk inwards. We found a Vietnamese dessert place and had a coconut Ice Cream with Jelly. It was delicious and unusual.
Mom was Sick
Mom got sick this week so we had to take care of her. My brother was also sick. I slept in Mom’s room and Dad in Krishav’s room as I didn’t want to get vomited on from my brother. So I slept on a small mattress on the bottom of my mom‘s bed. Fortunately they are both good now.
Day out without Mom
Mom needed rest. So, we went out to let her sleep. We started to look for some food. We saw a few restaurants on the way. We note them and said we might come back to it if we don’t find anything else. We walked around but we didn’t find anything is that all three of us agreed on. So we went came back to the first restaurant and went inside me and my brother ordered egg fried rice. My dad ordered a soup and a hot bread. It was all very delicious. At the end though, we did not eat all the fried rice. So we got it for take away and Mom ate it for dinner.
Wave time and Beach Pizza
On the afternoon that mom was sick, we went to the beach to swim. When we got there we put our bags down and got into the water immediately. Me and my brother jumped straight in but my Dad wasn’t used to it. So he stayed in the shallow end. After he got used to it, then he ca,e in deeper. The waves were super strong and so I had to hold onto my dad so I didn’t get pulled in to the next wave.
After we surfed the last wave, we dried up and packed up to go eat pizza at pizza place on the beach sidewalk. We phoned Mom and Simmi to come to join us. We had bought some fruits and pizza. The pizza would take 30 minutes to cook. They arrived the perfect time just the pizza arrived.
