Weekends are my gateway to adventure, freeing me from the constraints of work and opening up the possibilities for greater exploration. This past Sunday, Indra and I rented a scooter and set off from Da Nang to My Son, an enchanting destination about an hour and a half’s drive away. The journey itself was an exhilarating prelude to what awaited us.
Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, My Son is home to the mystical ruins of Shiva temples dating back to the 4th century. This archaeological wonder is the result of a collaboration between India and Vietnam, aimed at restoring and preserving the splendor of these ancient temples. Thanks to their efforts, many of the relics have been unearthed, allowing us the privilege to wander through these historical marvels.
The site held an air of serene grandeur, with numerous Shiva Lingas scattered across the landscape. Some stood intact, their presence a testament to the enduring legacy of the temple complex. Amid the ruins, we also found remnants of broken Nandis and other gods, adding to the mystical ambiance that pervaded the air.
Wandering through the ruins, we were transported back in time, imagining the grandeur of the past.
